Three large wind farm applications will be discussed by a Powys County Council next week before a formal response is given by the council’s cabinet.
A special meeting will be held at County Hall, Llandrindod Wells on Tuesday (September 25) to debate wind farms applications for Llaithdu, Llandinam and Llanbrynmair with proceedings screened on the Internet.
All three applications are for developments exceeding 50mgw and will be determined by the Department of Energy and Climate Change with the county council a statutory consultee.
The full county council will debate the applications, with a meeting starting at an earlier than usual time of 9.30am, followed by a meeting of the cabinet at 2.30pm to provide a formal response.
Executive Leader of Council, Councillor David Jones said: "Wind farm applications are of considerable concern to the people of Powys and we are anticipating huge interest in next Tuesday’s deliberations.
"To allow as many people to see and hear the debate the county council is again broadcasting proceedings live on the Internet.
“We are also expecting a number of residents to attend County Hall and are doing all that we can to accommodate as many people as possible but space is limited and numbers will be restricted.
“Access to County Hall will be by ticket only, with approximately 100 people accommodated on a first come first serve basis. Tickets will be allocated from 8.30am on the day of the meeting; they will not be allocated in advance.
“Visitors are also being advised that there will be no public parking available on the day and that they should use the town’s pay and display car parks.”
Residents who have other council business on the day are being advised to contact Customer Services at the Gwalia, Llandrindod Wells or contact the service by telephone.
The webcast will be accessible for residents by clicking on a link from the front page of the county council's website, but viewers need to ensure that they have Flash or Silverlight software (available free of charge on the Internet) installed on their device before the event, in order to be able to view the webcast.
This site will also give access to any documents or presentations associated with the event.
