Food Production and Quality
Introduction
The Food and Commercial section of Environmental Health is responsible for wide ranging duties to ensure that food is manufactured, prepared and sold in a condition fit for human consumption, investigating cases of suspected food poisoning where necessary.
Our Duties
- Carrying out routine inspections of food premises to ensure high standards of food hygiene are maintained.
- Offering advice and guidance on all aspects of food safety to members of the public and businesses.
- Investigating complaints about food.
- Sampling of food products to monitor the microbiological quality of foods.
- Participating in promoting food hygiene.
