Children

The Children's Services function is located within the People and Wellbeing Directorate of the Council. The Division has responsibility for all children social service functions, to the age of 18, and is organised and managed in service specialisms as follows:

The Business and Performance Unit is also located within the People and Wellbeing Directorate of the Council, which provide a range of support services including performance management, complaints, training, finance and administration.

Children's Services also has shared responsibility for the out of hours-emergency service for both children and adults.

Children's Services works to meet and surpass our statutory obligations to ensure that children at risk are protected, children in need are supported and enabled to lead independent and fulfilling lives through the provision of quality services.

With a dedicated duty desk, we will support you if you have a concern for a child's welfare and wish to discuss it with a Social Worker further.

We work in closely with all key agencies, the Police, Voluntary Sector, Powys Local Health Board, the Army and Probation. This multi agency working has formed key groups such as the Powys Local Safeguarding Children Board.
