

Powys Archives is located in Llandrindod Wells, and serves as the official repository for the records of the county of Powys and the three former counties of Breconshire, Montgomeryshire and Radnorshire.
We are responsible for collecting and preserving documents relating to all aspects of the history of Powys. Our collections date from the fourteenth century and can be used for all types of research:
• Tracing your family history
• Discovering the history of your house
• Finding out more about the history of your village or community
• School or college projects
• Investigating legal issues such as rights of way
We have a public searchroom for research, and staff are always on hand to offer expert advice and guidance. Demand for places is always high and it is advisable to reserve a seat in advance of a visit.
Powys Archives welcomes the donation of local archives from individuals and organisations. Documents may also be deposited on indefinite loan.

Please note visitors to Powys Archives are required to display a parking permit in County Hall Carpark. These can be obtained from Powys Archives or from Reception at County Hall.
