Careers in the information profession

If you wish to become a qualified librarian, you will be at the heart of a profession that is vital in the 21st century. Librarians are information specialists in an increasingly information hungry world. Professionals need to know the latest findings in their particular fields, parents and children need help with the National Curriculum and the public want to know what’s the best and latest good read. You will have an opportunity to make a real difference to life in your community. It could be the time to make that career change you’ve been thinking about!

To become a librarian, you can follow a Bachelor or Masters degree, or, if you are already a graduate, a Postgraduate Diploma that has been accredited by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. This website includes information on where to study in the UK, and on qualifications for library assistants which can lead to career development.

For further information on opportunities for professionals please call 01597 826864 and ask for Kay Thomas.
