Helen Wilding Smith – Music Coordinator

I am Music Coordinator for South Powys and have been in this post since February 2010. The position was created to help put into action the Powys Children and Young People’s Music Strategy, which focuses on the importance of musical opportunities for all children and young people.

I work in my position as Music Coordinator 3 days a week. I am also a music tutor, teaching violin and piano in Mid-Wales as well as violin teaching and primary school music in Herefordshire. I belong to a medieval trio, Fleurs de Lys and play in several Ceilidh bands in the Midlands.

My main role is to communicate with music tutors, schools, music and arts organisations, musicians, parents and pupils, and create links between them all.

Powys is a county which is abundant with music, and our aim is for Powys music to connect through our Powys Music Website.
