Structures

Powys County Council is responsible for the assessment, inspection and maintenance of 2086 structures on the adopted road network throughout the county comprising 1601 bridges and culverts, 44 footbridges, 154 retaining walls and 287 cattle grids.

The Network Management team, based in County Hall, are responsible for the production and management of the assessment and inspection programmes, strengthening and replacement schemes and the recording of the inventory data.

The Property and Design team undertake the structural assessments and inspections and provide the design and supervision for the strengthening and replacement programme.

The Shire Offices, based in Welshpool and Brecon, undertake the maintenance programmes, which include routine and specific maintenance work.
