The Traffic Unit manages the network of traffic signals installed at various key sites throughout the county.
There are 31 sets of traffic signals throughout Powys. Traffic signals are used to safely control the movement of vehicles at junctions in order to maximise traffic flow or to provide a pedestrian crossing facility (Pelican or Toucan Crossings).
SIEMENS maintains all the traffic signals on the County Council’s behalf as the term contractor. Any faults, such as bulbs not working etc., should be reported to the Council’s Highways Helpdesk on 0845 607 6060. Faults will be reported to the Term Contractor and will be rectified as soon as practical.
Some of the signals are capable of self diagnosis and report their faults directly to a remote monitoring station based in County Hall.
