Health & Safety

The Food and Commercial Team at Powys County Council is responsible for the enforcement of health and safety regulations in premises such as offices, hotels, restaurants, warehouses and shops. Responsibility is shared with the Government's Health and Safety Executive, which is responsible for inspecting manufacturing industries, construction and agriculture.

The task of the team is to ensure that every employer, employee and self-employed person understands and complies with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and associated legislation.

Free Home Fire Safety Checks

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service will now visit domestic properties to provide home fire safety advice and will supply and install a smoke alarm free of charge.

You can request a home fire safety check for yourself or a dependant relative by contacting the Service on 0800 169 1234.
