Recycling bags

Recycling & rubbish bag collections

Those residents who are unaffected by the changes and continue to put all their waste out in sacks can still recycle from their own home. Householders are given recycle bags to put their recyclable rubbish in and asked to put it out for collection each week, on the same day as normal refuse collection.

There are two types of clear recycling bags - one with red writing and one with black writing.

The bag with red writing is for:

  • Plastic bottles - rinised and squashed
  • Tins and cans - rinsed and squashed
  • Carrier bags and plastic film - put all into one bag

The bag with black writing is for:

  • Light cardboard flattened
  • Newspapers and telephone directories
  • Magazines and junk mail - please remove all plastic wrappers
  • Clothes and textiles- dry and clean
  • Handbags, belts and shoes - tied into pairs please

If you have this scheme, we do not accept:

  • Glass (unless you have been delivered a glass basket)
  • Food waste
  • Plastic tubs
  • Plastic trays
