Aerobix

Aerobics, combines rythmic aerobic exercise with stretching and strength training routines.

Performed to music and will help to improve all elements of fitness, including flexibility, muscular strength and cardivascular fitness.

This session welcomes a variety of fitness levels.

Pump it

This class Works all the major muscles of your body, using adjustable weighted barbells and all done to music.

Builds lean muscle mass, in turn raising  metabolic rate encouraging rapid  fat Burning and ensuring  that you see results.

Boxercise

A Class to challenge all abilities.

High intensity and paced workout, great way to meet new people, have fun and burn calories all at the same time.

 

All sessions are mixed.

 

Instructors are level 2 qualified and registered with Boxercise.

Bums And Tums

A guaranteed fat burning session that will improve your stamina, strength and suppleness. A combination of body toning exercises will ensure that you see a change in your body shape in no time at all. A great class for beginners and those who yearn to return.

Circuits

Using High Intensity interval training methods, this class will challenge all fitness levels.

Developing muscular strength and endurance, that will get you fitter and stronger.

With a variety of class structures, that will keep you guessing and working hard all the time.

A great place to meet new people, get fit, healthy and have fun.

Spinning

Indoor group cycling class.

Instructors guide participants through workout phases, warm ups, steady up-tempo candences, sprints, climbs, cool downs etc.

You control the resistance of the bike during the session and constant adjustments are a common theme, making the pedalling as easy or as challenging as you please.

The spinning bikes have toe clips so that trainiers can be worn to each session, or for the more enthusiastic participants the bikes have the capability of the participant wearing their own SPD cleat shoes.

Towel and drink are manditory as you will sweat in this session.

Step & Tone

Hi/lo class with tons of easy to follow fat burning moves to challenge all levels of fitness.

Finished off with muscle toning exercises to get that body into shape using a variety of dumbbells of your choice.

Triple 20

This is a class that incorporates a variety of fitness classes in just ones session.

Triple 20 is broken down in to 3 x twenty minute sessions that is the choice of the instructor on that day.

This is an ideal class to keep you on your toes and guessing what you are going to be doing on a weekly basis.

For an all over body work out try Triple 20.

W.O.D(Workout of the day)

What is W.O.D?

Well it is somply the best workout that you will get in a forty minute session.

W.O.D stands for workout of the day! and all of you who know about cross fit will know that this session will test your fitnes levels and provide that all over body workout that you desire.

Work out of the day is exactly that, whatever the instructor has constructed for that session is what will take place, Utilising the principles of cross fit and Tabata.

Aqua Fit

A unique combination of aerobic moves all done within water.

This session is a fabulous way of getting fit without putting to much strain on all of those joints.

With music and the support of the water you can run, jump and kick your way to a fitter and healthier you.

 

Lead by a fully qualified Level 2 instructor, with over 10 yrs experience.

Starfish Learn to Swim Programme

The Starfish swimming programme caters for all.

The learn to swim programme starts with chilren from 2yrs of age up to adults.

 

Junior learn to swim programme operates on the following days:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Mon - Fri are all run during the evening from 3.30 - 5.30pm

Saturday - 9.15 - 11.15am

With a variety of stages on offer from Duckling through to Stage 10.

Also included in the Starfish scheme is Rookie Lifeguard and this usually takes place twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday 3.30 - 4.25pm

 

Adult Starfish.

the adult swim programme can cater for the total beginnner or even giving advice, technique tips to the advanced swimmer.

adult programme runs every Monday 7.30 - 8.30pm

ASSOCIATED CLUBS

Ystradgynlais Swimming Club

Ystrad Swimming Club are an external club that hire the facility and meet once a week.

 

The club meet every Wednesday evening 7.30 - 9.30pm and have two sections

Glantawe Gulls Club

Glantawe Gulls

The club have been associated eith the Sports Centre for over ten years.

They have been providing aqua therapy to a number of and a variety of disabilitites within and around the local areas.

The club meet every Wednesday Evening 5.0 - 6.0pm

Tawe Kayak Club

Tawe Kayak Club

Tawe Kayak Club have been associated with the Sports Centre for over ten years and have seen the club expand in this time.

The club currently meet Friday evenings 8.30 to 9.30pm through the winter months and in the summer they utilise the fabulous surrounding rivers and the local beaches.

Swansea valley Karate Club have been associated with the Sports Centre for over 15 years.

The club meet every Tuesday and Thursday 7.0pm to 8.0pm.

Ystradgynlais Netball Club

Ystradgynlais Netball Club

Ystradgynlais Netball Club currently meet at the Sports Centre evert Monday evening on the following times:

5 to 6pm, 6 to 7pm & 7 to 8pm, this is due to the varied ages that are attending the sessions on a regular basis.

There is a small cost for each child that attends the each session and they are as follows;

Annual affiliation fee of £10

there is also a £3 charge per session.
