General Information
Please find below some general information which may be of help to you.
Lockers
- Clothes lockers are located in the changing rooms and you will need 20p in the Male and Female. £1 in the Family Room (Refunded)
- Lockers in the Fitness Suite are FREE. Ask at Reception for a key
Poolside Rules for Bathers
- No running on the poolside.
- No fighting, bullying, dunking, pushing or throwing other bathers into the pool.
- No face masks, flippers or snorkels to be used during general public sessions.
- No eating or drinking on the poolside.
- No outdoor footwear permitted on the poolside.
- No spectators permitted on the poolside including swimming lessons, unless authorised by the swim-coordinator.
- No smoking
- Non-swimmers and weak swimmers must remain in the areas of the pool indicated by the signs on poolside.
- Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied in the water by an adult (see child admission policy for full details)
- Accompanying adults must not leave children under the age of 8 unattended or beyond eye contact.
- Diving is not permitted.
- No jumping onto floats, rafts or inflatables from poolside.
- No toys, inflatables or balls permitted in the main pool during public sessions.
- All bathers MUST have correct swimwear. (No calf length shorts, No underwear, No t-shirts)
- The Lifeguards instructions should always be followed.
Health and Safety / Hygiene
- Please ensure you shower before entering the pool.
- Please ensure you visit the toilet before entering the pool and encourage children to do so.
- Children still requiring nappies are encouraged to wear a recognised swim nappy, available to purchase at Reception.
- Conventional nappies are not permitted in the pool.
- Any incident involving contamination of the pool must be reported to staff immediately.
- You are advised NOT to swim if you are suffering from the following:
- - Ear infection
- - Open wounds
- - Coughs / colds etc
Lane Etiquette
- Judge your own ability and lane pace to select the lane to use.
- Be aware of the lane pace and judge your own ability accordingly.
- Swim single file to allow overtaking when necessary.
- Allow a reasonable and safe distance between fellow swimmers and yourself.
- Respect others personal space.
- Allow others to overtake at the end of the lane if necessary.
- Avoid talking or stopping in inappropriate places.
- Show respect for others when dealing with a problem; if necessary make the lifeguard aware
- Above all use common sense and courtesy.
Swimming Group Admission Procedures
The following procedures are to be followed at all times when groups of 10 or more bathers enter the swimming pool.
- Swimming declaration form to be completed and signed by the instructor / group leader at Reception prior to entering the pool.
- All bathers MUST have correct swimwear. (No calf length shorts, No underwear, No t-shirts)
- All groups after changing, will be briefed on poolside regulations prior to entering the water.
- Non and weak swimmers must remain in the shallow end and within their comfortable standing depth at all times. Group leaders must accompany any individuals that can not stand in the shallow end or if they are in any doubt that, for whatever reason, the individual will not adhere to the pool rules.
- On no account must any member of the group enter the water via the deep end on their initial entry.
- Group leader / instructor to be seated on pool side and be clearly visible to staff at all times. However, when there are young non-swimmers (under 11 years) in the group the leader must enter the water and be responsible for them at all times.
- No jumping will take place within the swimming pool when bather capacity reaches 50%.
Fitness Suite Rules
- Correct footwear to be worn at all times
- Appropriate clothing is required e.g. shorts, t-shirts. No Bare Chest Training
- No food to be consumed in the Fitness Suite
- At busy periods Session duration is 1 hour maximum
- Only authorised users to use the facilities.
Sports Hall Rules
Squash Courts
- It is essential that all squash players wear non-marking footwear.
Green Bowls
- All bowlers must wear appropriate footwear.
Food and Drink
- No food can be brought into the centre except for Birthday Cakes (A letter stating you have brought your own for the party will be required)
Photography Policy
Before using any photographic equipment it is essential that you obtain prior permission. You will need to complete the Photographic Information Form at Reception. On approval you will be issued with a photography pass. This is to be worn at all times during your visit.
Mobile Phone Policy
- For reasons of Child Protection, the use of mobile phones is not allowed inside Brecon Leisure Centre.
