AIM Training – Intervention Training

Prerequisites: It is anticipated that participants who attend the intervention course will have undertaken the AIM 2 assessment training.

Level: Beginners to intermediate. This is a course that is aimed at social workers and youth offending officers who are at the beginning stages of undertaking work with young people who sexually harm.

The course will assist practitioners in identifying need based on the outcomes from the AIM 2 assessment.

Addresses issues of engagement and motivation, together with a brief outline of the historical aspects of working with young people who sexually harm.

The course and its content are based on the AIM intervention manual.

Key Learning Outcomes

Focus on the four different domains as highlighted within the assessment process, identifying various tools and techniques that can be used in order to elicit information from young people.

Focuses on the strengths aspect of the process in order to build up resilience factors for the young person.

Highlights the importance of working together in a holistic and systemic manner with professionals and parents/carers who are responsible for the young person.

Touch on issues of child development and neurological development, in order to assist practitioners in understanding the teenager.

There is no charge to attend these courses, however a cancellation charge may apply to non-attendance if sufficient notice is not given
