We aim to encourage excellence by supporting talented athletes to fulfil their potential. We work to increase participation, develop sports performance and assist Welsh governing bodies of sport to ensure that opportunities are provided for competition and training.
Small grants are available to Powys based athletes performing at a national age group level or ranked in the top 20 in Wales, via the Montgomeryshire District Sports Council and the Brecknock & Radnor Sports Partnership.
Both schemes aim to help athletes fulfil their potential by providing help towards the costs of training, competing and equipment.
This scheme provides free access to Powys County Council leisure facilities for any sportsperson performing at either a national age group level or ranked in the top 20 in Wales.
Eligible athletes receive a Powys FANS Scheme card that is valid for 12 months.
Sport Powys run strength & conditioning programmes for young athletes aged 14-18 who are performing at a regional level or higher.
These programmes are generic and designed to complement athletes sports specific training programmes and fit around their educational commitments.
Sport Powys currently run these programmes in Newtown (North Powys) and Brecon (South Powys). Young athletes are nominated for these programmes by their school or national governing body.
