Plans for Powys schools

One of our main priorities is to modernise schools in Powys, both primary and secondary. We have to deal with falling pupil numbers and a growing backlog in repairs and maintenance needed in schools.

21st Century Schools Programme

In some cases, capital funding is required in order to build or upgrade schools within Powys. In some cases funding is secured as part of a reorganisation of educational provision in an area, whilst in other areas funding is secured for specific projects without any reorganisation of educational provision.

Where funding is secured through the 21st Century Schools Programme, projects are jointly funded by the Welsh Government and Powys County Council, as well as other stakeholders in some cases.
