The County Council has considered 5 separate wind farm applications, plus an application for an overhead line, which were submitted under the Electricity Act 1989. These applications are to be determined by ministers at the UK Government Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).
The council objected to all 6 applications, which triggered public inquiries. DECC decided that the best way to deal with all six schemes was to hold a conjoined public inquiry which will look at them all together.
The council has set up a team to deal with the inquiry which consists of leading counsel, external solicitors and officers and expert witnesses who will present and defend the our case.
The conjoined public inquiry is to be held at The Royal Oak in Welshpool. The opening session was held on 4–7 June 2013, the subsequent sessions began in September 2013 and are expected to run until May 2014.
These schemes are:

· Llanbrynmair wind farm
· Fferm Y Wynt Llaithddu wind farm
