In 2011 the Minister announced significant changes to the running and structure of the LSCB’S which would move from a local arrangement to a regional arrangement and reduce the number of LSCBs in Wales from 22 to 6.
Powys, along with Carmarthen, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire have now joined together to form Mid and West Wales Safeguarding Board to work at a regional level and link with local safeguarding sub groups to help protect children who are experiencing, or at risk of, abuse, neglect or other kinds of harm. The new name for this board is CYSUR (Children and Youth Unifying the Region).
There are, however, local arrangements in place to ensure that agencies locally work together in order to safeguard children and young people within Powys. Powys, along with the other CYSUR regions, have formed a Local Operational sub group which has been named PLOG (Powys Local Operational Group).
